Past DXpeditions

ZL7 – Chatham Island – Jeff, K5WE, will be active as ZL7/K5WE from the settlement of Kaingaroa on the north coast of Chatham Island beginning 9 September through 21 September, 2022. He will operate all bands 160 through 10 meters using the CW, FT8, FT4, SSB, and RTTY modes. Equipment will include Elecraft & Yaesu Xcvrs, 500 watt amps, a Hexbeam and a Crank-IR Vertical. The Grid Square is AE16UG, IOTA # is OC-038, CQ Zone is 32, and the ITU Zone is 60. Depending upon a reliable internet connection, logs will be uploaded to Clublog daily and Clublog Livestream will be active. Logs will be uploaded to LoTW upon returning home. ZL7/K5WE Chatham Island Press Release #2 – 28Jul22: Preparations are proceeding on schedule for a September 9 on-the-air date. I’m pleased to announce my son Scott – KD5GEY will be joining me as an assisting operator. We hope to make our presence known with an all band, all mode effort, probably emphasizing CW and FT8. A 60 meter sub-license has been granted. Any help with DXpedition expenses would be appreciated. ZL7 – Chatham Island is #82 on the just released Clublog Most Wanted List. VP2V – British Virgin Islands, OKDXA members Jeff, K5WE, will be active as VP2VEM and Bill, N5AQ, will be active as VP2V/N5AQ from Tortola, British Virgin Islands beginning October 4 through October 13, 2019. They will operate all bands 160 through 10 meters, mostly CW with some RTTY, FT8, FT4, & SSB. Equipment will include K3 radios with 400 watt amps. Antennas will include a Hexbeam, a Crank-IR vertical, and dipoles. Depending upon a reliable internet connection, logs will be uploaded to Clublog daily. Logs will be uploaded to LoTW upon returning home. QSL via ClubLog OQRS, or QSL VP2VEM to K5WE, QSL VP2V/N5AQ to N5AQ…

ZF – Cayman Islands,  Jeff, K5WE, will be active as ZF2WE from Cayman Brac, Cayman Islands beginning December 21 through December 30 2016. He will operate all bands 160 through 10 meters, mostly CW with some RTTY. Equipment will include a Kenwood radio with Amplifier. Antennas will be verticals on the beach. Logs will be uploaded to ClubLog daily. Logs will be uploaded to LoTW upon returning home. QSL via ClubLog OQRS or via K5WE.

VP5 – Turks and Caicos, Dave, W5CW will be on Turks and Caicos beginning Monday November 21 – Tuesday December 13, 2016. I will be active as VP5CW during the CQWW CW DX Contest, the ARRL 160 Meter Contest, and the ARRL 10 Meter Contest. During each Contest I will be Single Op Low Power. Before and after the Contest(s) I will active on CW and SSB 160 – 10 Meters as VP5/W5CW. This will include 60 Meters which will be a first for me from VP5. I hope to work many OKDXA Members before, during, and after the Contest(s). QSL information is via W5CW direct only. 73 & DX, Dave, W5CW

XR0Y – Easter Island, Jeff, K5WE, was active as XR0YS from Hanga Roa, Easter Island May 25 through Jun 8. He operated all bands, mostly CW with some RTTY, including an entry in the WPX CW contest. Logs were uploaded to LoTW upon returning home. QSL via ClubLog OQRS or via K5WE.

PJ7 – Sint Maarten,  Jeff, K5WE will be active from Sint Maarten as PJ7/K5WE beginning 25Oct14 thru 2Nov14. He will try some SSB during CQWW and then mostly CW and some RTTY on all bands, 80-6 meters. Logs will be uploaded daily to ClubLog, and to LoTW shortly after he returns home. He will be trying out a new antenna for 30 meters, and hopes to have a better signal on 30 than with the dipoles on previous trips. QSL via home call, or via ClubLog request.

PJ5 – Sint Eustatius,  Father and son team Jeff and Erik were on from Sint Eustatius as PJ5/K5WE and PJ5/N5WR beginning 5 Feb14, all bands, mostly CW with some SSB and RTTY. QSL via home callsigns.

VP5 – Turks and Caicos, W5CW returned to Turks & Caicos (VP5) Tuesday, November 19 – Tuesday December 17, 2013. While on this trip he was active during the 2013 CQWW CW Contest on November 23-24, 2013, the ARRL 160 Meter Contest on December 6-8, 2013, and the ARRL 10 Meter Contest on December 14-15, 2013. In each of these Contest(s) the call sign was VP5CW. Before and after the Contest(s) he was active on 6 Meters thru 160 Meters CW and SSB as VP5/W5CW. Concentration was on 160 Meters, 6 Meters, and the WARC Bands. QSL Information for all operations are Direct via W5CW Call Book Address or via PO Box 88, Morris, OK 74445-0088.

VP5 – Turks and Caicos,  W5CW returned to Turks & Caicos (VP5) Thursday, May 16, 2013 – Tuesday June 11, 2013. While on this trip he was active during the 2013 CQWW WPX CW Contest on May 25-26, 2013 and the 2013 ARRL June VHF Contest on June 8-9, 2013. The Call Sign during the WPX Contest was VP53V and during the June VHF Contest it was VP5CW. Before and after the Contest(s) he was active on 160 – 6 Meters CW/SSB concentrating on 6 Meters and the WARC Bands using the Call Sign VP5/W5CW.

VP5 – Turks and Caicos, W5CW, returned to Turks & Caicos (VP5) Tuesday, November 20 – Tuesday, December 11, 2012. While on this trip he will was active during the CQWW DX CW Contest on November 24 – 25, 2012, the ARRL 160 Meter Contest on December 1 – 2, 2012, and the ARRL 10 Meter Contest on December 8 – 9, 2012.. In each of these Contests he used VP5CW. Before and after the Contest(s) he was active on 160 – 6 CW/SSB concentrating on 6 Meters and the WARC Bands using the Call Sign of VP5/W5CW. QSL Information is Direct via W5CW.

VP5 – Turks and Caicos, W5CW returned to Turks & Caicos (VP5) Wednesday, November 23 thru Wednesday, December 14, 2011.
While on this trip he operated in the CQWW DX CW Contest on November 26 – 27, 2011, and the ARRL 160 Meter Contest on December 2-4, 2011, and also the ARRL 10 Meter Contest on December 10-11, 2011. In each of these contest (s) the Call Sign was VP5CW. Before and after the Contest(s) he operated 6 Meters thru 160 Meters CW and SSB as VP5/W5CW. Concentration was on 160 Meters, 6 Meters, and the WARC Bands. QSL Direct via W5CW.

VP5 – Turks and Caicos, W5CW operated from Turks & Caicos (VP5) Tuesday May 24 – Tuesday June 14, 2011. While there he participated in the CQWW WPX CW CONTEST on May 28 – 29, 2011 and the ARRL June VHF QSO Party on June 11 – 12, 2011 using the Call Sign of VP5CW.Before and after the Contest(s) he operated 6 thru 160 Meters CW & SSB as VP5/W5CW. Concentration was on 6 Meters and the WARC Bands. QSL Direct via W5CW.

VQ51V – Turks and Caicos, W5CW, operated from Turks & Caicos March 23 – April 20, 2011, during the CQWW WPX SSB Contest, SP DX Contest, JIDX CW Contest, and the YU DX Contest, using the Callsign of VQ51V. Before and after the Contests he was active on 160 – 6 Meters CW/SSB using the Callsign of VP5/W5CW. QSL Information is either to PO Box 88, Morris, OK 74445-0088 or via W5CW CBA.

VP5 – Turks and Caicos, operated from Turks & Caicos November 24 – December 14, 2010. During the CQWW CW Contest, the ARRL 160 Meter Contest, and the ARRL 10 Meter Contest he used VP5CW. Before and after the Contests he was active on 160 – 6 Meters CW/SSB using the Callsign of VP5/W5CW. QSL Information for all operations from VP5 is either via PO Box 88, Morris, OK 74445-0088 or via the W5CW callbook address.

VP5oV – Turks and Caicos, returned to Turks & Caicos July 8 – July 29, 2010. During this trip he used the Callsign of VP50V in the IARU HF World Championship Contest, the CQ Worldwide VHF Contest, and the RSGB IOTA Contest. Before and after these contests he was active on 6 Meters – 160 Meters on both CW and SSB. Callsign was VP5/W5CW before and after the contests. QSL Information is to either PO Box 88, Morris, OK 74445-0088 or via W5CW CBA.

VQ5V – Turks and Caicos, K5CM, and N5KW were active from Turks & Caicos from November 23 to December 7, 2009. They operated the 2009 CQ WW CW DX Contest November 29 – 30, 2009 using the Special Callsign of VQ5V. And also operated the 2009 ARRL 160 Meter Contest on December 4 – 6 with the Callsign of VP5CM. Before and after the contest they used VP5/W5CW, VP5/K5CM, and VP5/N5KW. QSL Information is as follows:
